Power stop drum kit

Anyone installed this kit before?

I can't properly fit the drum over the shoes, only thing that seems to help is grinding the bottom ends of the shoe brackets, and the slots on the bottom of the backing plate.

I've triple checked if everything is in the right place, let me know if you see anything wrong. The drum slips in really tight and the adjustment ring is fully screwed in, I don't understand what's wrong.

1st time doing drums and it's a nightmare, but I'm glad I only had to change the steel line that connects to the cylinder, I thought I would have to change more lines, I haven't touched the driver side yet..

Thanks

It seems my backing plate is not good for this drum kit... I guess that's why it's not listed for 2006 cars on rockauto...
Never thought a brake job would take me so long....

Are you just replacing components or are you upgrading to bigger/different parts?

Just replacing the drum/shoe kit, and hub/bearing. I think it's the backing plate, I'm doing the other side right now, and the drum won't even fit without the adjuster installed yet.

On rockauto they don't list the power stop kit for 2006, I thought it was because it wasn't available in the US in 2006, and power stop just omitted the year... It seems odd that they use a slightly different backing plate for one year only.

Anyhow I managed to make it fit on the passenger side.

***Edit***

After I blew 2 wheel cylinders on the driver side, I've decided to do some more inspection and figured it's the handbrake cables, I didn't think it would be the issue as it was loose and not being used, I'm such a noob, lol...
I think the previous owner loosen the handbrake adjuster in order to free the rear brakes after it was parked for awhile.

I got 2 backing plates at the scrapyard since I ground the bottom slots on mine. I installed the shoes without the handbrake cable hooked and the drums fits over!
So I'll cut the cable behind the backing plate and order new cables from rockauto, Toyota wants 100+$cad/ cable.
