Question Placement of axle stands

Hi all,

Just had a quick question regarding where to place axle stands for the Mk2 Yaris.

From what i've read, it seems you can only safely place them on the sills? Is there perhaps another point you can place them near the front of the car?

Also having trouble jacking the front up because it's much lower than I thought. Will have to figure that one out as well!

Cheers

I don't know what a MK2 is, but on a NCP91 you can use the following;

Front, frame rails

Rear, transport tie tow points

As far as being too low for jacking, drive the car onto pieces of framing lumber to raise the car another 375mm or so. Should be enough to then be able to get the jack under her.

Hey WeeYari,

Thanks for the very helpful post! :)

By MK2, I meant mark 2 as in 2nd gen, which is what you posted I believe.

Will try giving it another go next weekend once I get the ice hockey pucks to act as a cushion between the jack and the frame ;)

Considering how light the Yaris is, Weeyari's support points are probably fine, but the service manual explicitly states to not lift it by any place other than the points specified.

From the manual:
"NOTICE: Use the correct jack-up points. Do not use any other part of the vehicle as a jack-up point."

Hey CTScott,

Thanks for the detail - will be a great help!

Looks like I'll be needing another few pucks if I want to put the stands on the sills. Do you guys use the same or blocks of wood?

Cheers.
