Increased ground clearance between 2008 and 2010 Sedan
Hi all,
I know I have not posted much here, but I wish I had more to share with the rest of the forum. You guys are great and always enjoy reading about all the mods even though I can't get any of them where I live. Anyway, does anyone know of an increase in ground clearance from 2008 to 2010 and later models of the stock sedan? I have a 2008 Sedan (185/60/R15) myself and 2 other 2010 Sedan (175/60/R14) one for a member in the family and the other for a neighbor. I always found that the tire clearance on the 2010 is more than what I have. I though it is due to the smaller tire, which led to the difference in the ground clearance. However, I have had the chance to compare same model sedan (2008) to mine but with the smaller tire size and there is minimal difference. I also got the chance to compare different tire size on the 2010 models also where I also found minimal difference. The bottom line I found about 1/2 an inch (0.5 inch) in ground clearance between 2008 and 2010 models. Can anyone confirm? Is it possible that Toyota started putting higher spring/shock absorbers starting with 2010 models? I always thought the only difference is the front grill ! |

Springs get tired as they age. You are probably just noticing spring sag.

Either way, I am only concerned that if in the future I need or want to change something in the suspension there won't be like a million variations of the same part. Thanks guys. |

Start looking at part numbers... There is a reference to a "Rough Road Package" in the suspension section of the factory shop manual. It could be you are seeing some cars with it and some without in your market.

That's right
I didn't see that part before. It might just explain the difference. The Dealer would have started getting them with the rough road package starting from 2010. Good catch Jason. |
