Either one would be a good trade to learn. I'd do some research into average earnings for each in your area and make my decision that way.

Plumbing, but here any of the trades are good.

Millwrights are now in the $40/hr range, with a lot of companies offering signing bonuses and mid year increases just to keep people, and for the most parts, it's easy work.

Not sure how prevalent multi store buildings are in down under.. but Elevator Mechanic is one of the highest paid in Canada for example..

But VERY VERY hard to get into.. you have to know someone on the inside to get you in.

Don’t do it unless you’re going to be good. Six of the last 10 years the people who service my boiler screwed it up and had to come back and do it over again.
