07' HB Water Accumulation in hatch

I'm not sure if all the HB doors are the same, but Wifey has an 07' and it had some slimy water in the hatch that accumulated over a while and surely would have caused rusting. I sealed the area between the glass and the metal frame with clear silicone and all the way down to about 6" from the bottom, and now it does not have any water getting in there. It is not noticable since the silicone is clear, and I taped the line very carefully with painters tape, one on each side of the area I wanted to seal. There was also an odor of the stagnant water in the HB door if you sniffed carefully, and now that, too is gone. I'm not saying they're all like that, but it just might save some $ if yours is storing water too....

BTW:
I found the water by opening the hatch waaaay beyond the normal opening.
The gas shocks were not in the door at the time...

Well, how would I know if there is water?

I am not taking the hinges off it to check. lol

I have had it opened quite a bit and never noticed any water on the inside or around where it would run down on the interior of the car.

Hopefully you just got a bad seal from the factory.

The easiest way to check would be to take off the plastic junk that makes it look decent from the door. It shouldn't be too hard to do, the Yaris repair manual says exactly how to do it.

i am so confused......where was this water exactly? inside the frame around the window?

i recently took apart my rear passanger doors and found a water stain line....meaning water is pooling inside the doors below the window.

There is a water line in the hatch for the window washer. Could that be the cause of the water?

I would deffinetly need some pics of the area you sealed.

I have a '05 hatch and have also found water accumulated under the spare tire.

Can't figure out where it is liking in

I had water leaking in around the rear seat belt buckle anchors in the fender wells. Both sides, but the drivers side was worse. I was pulling up the carpet to pull wiring and found the carpet under pad was soaked. I had pictures, but that was 5 years ago.

^^ also note that I have an '05, so it's a different design. It was simply a spot they missed on both sides with the body sealer and was easily fixed.
