Looking for assistance in solving a problem
OK, I did some work and will be doing more work on someone's '07 Yaris LB. She's had the alternator replaced already because of charging issues, so she was told by the dealer. Ever since, the alternator light is ever so slightly light up when the car is running. I pulled the connector off the alternator, pulled each pin out and did a drag test to make sure the connections were all tight and corrosion free. I also cleaned the main output wire connection. It didn't change anything.
Problem no.2 is the ABS and (!) light are on. I pulled both rear connections from the speed sensors that I had already serviced a few years ago because of the known problem. They were still like new. I tried pulling the ABS fuses to clear codes, that didn't work, so I disconnected the battery for a couple minutes. That didn't seem to work either. My only guess is that there's some other problem with either the ABS ECU or the pump. I don't have anything to pull codes either. (correction, my neighbour has a simple code reader but wouldn't give me any ABS codes.) |

With the alternator, if it was replaced with an aftermarket one, that is why your battery light is on. The aftermarket ones do not output the correct "good" signal to make the cluster happy.
With the ABS issue, check this post for how to read and clear the codes with just a paperclip: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...&postcount=262

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try that tomorrow when she's back for me to change her rear brakes and front exhaust gasket.

Ok, so even though the connector looked clean and free of corrosion, chances are that sensor is either kaput or the connection is bad?
