Autocross in BC?
I like autocross, solo1 and 2 events. There are a couple of Novice series for those who haven't run this type of race and all it really takes is to check out the car club that is hosting it, join the club and pay to play. Some simple rules and run in your class. It's friendly and fun and lots of great guys and gals who all come out to race.
I would personally like to see more Yaris and Vitz clan come out to run and have fun. The next event is in Pitt Meadows on July 15th. I think its about $25 bucks or so. You can check it out at www.vcmc.com or www.ubcscc.com. I was the only Yaris. It'd be great to see more out there! PM me or post and lets see if we can get more of us there.

No worries at all. I am running as a novice in the current series. If you want you can check out both the ubcscc site and the VCMC site. There are fun runs where you just come out and run the course, no real competition or points.
My brother tried it for his first time a couple of weeks ago and he had a blast. He's coming again running his Mazda 3. (The Yaris can out run the Mazda 3 no problem). You don't really go that fast and it's not too hard on the car, more like hard on the tires if you run at Boundary Bay. Next week 27th is in Pitt Meadows. The VCMC is more organized than the UBC club but of course they have more resources than the ubc club. Both are fun and the people there are pretty friendly. If you just want to come and check it out drop on by and look for me. I'll also be at the June 2nd event VCMC and the June 3rd event UBC club. It'd be great to see the Yaris world gang come out! You've got an awesome car and it' be a great way to test out all the new parts we put in it. It's fun to see how differently the car handles with the parts we put in. If you have any questions pm me or post.

hmmmm you are right, we used to do that. I remember back in the day we used to compete against the American buffalo. They had power but couldn't corner very well, kept on falling all over themselves in the tight bend.
The caribou, if outfitted with the old Pirelli P7's (old school tires) could corner like a rugrat with velcro.

wow, I would think the buffalo would have had better cornering stability due to their lower center of gravity and wider stance (and have you seen them with extra wide bodykits? woah!)
mwhahaha

It's that power, too much torque. Like the old BRE Datsuns (510/Bluebirds) in the trans am series in the 70's that could out corner the more powerfull AMC's and Mustangs.

May 27th VCMC Novice event is now back at Boundary Bay. Check site for information.
June 2nd is VCMC next event after that, maybe at Boundary Bay, but hopefully ready for Pitt Meadows new track. June 3rd is the same for the ubcscc.com which is the second Novice event.

Awesome event on Canada Day. It was sunny and the track was fast with a few technical elements to throw you off enough to keep trying harder until you got it perfect or DNF!. We had 2 Yaris come out to the event which was great. People took notice of the newcomer and the black Yaris was deifnately getting looks from curious passersby. Would love to see more Yari come out and join us for the July 15th Novice event at the ubscss club.
Cheers.
