Car fax

When I traded in my 2002 echo for my 2020 corolla the Carfax said the odometer have been tampered with. Even though the oil was changed every 3000 miles, there was a 2000 mile discrepancy. I mean between the records at the dealer and the odometer on the car. This was a clerical error someone got the mileage wrong when they change the oil. It doesn’t make sense that a car with 80,000 miles on it would have an odometer tampering of 2000 miles.

But the dealer refused to take my car and trade because of that. I contacted car Effex with the and they refused to admit their mistake. I hear this is not unusual with Carfax.

Very sad for Carfax and their victims.

had the same thing happen on one of my corvettes that i sold sight unseen to an out of state buyer on ebay years ago

a small data input mileage error

i had tons of paperwork to back up its history

the buyer was very happy with the car so it was a non issue for him

ive bought/ sold many cars over the years but overall had good luck with carfax and deem them reliable

I think I've had that happened on a car that was being taken in on trade back when I sold cars. They got it removed from CarFax with the help of the dealership that serviced that car. Took a while though.
