Does your car have power windows and door locks? If it does then it has the pwer package if not it has one of the other two.

Subject to safety, may be you can find out by braking hard and keep pressing the brake pedal. If there is ABS, you will notice the typical noise and vibration that that come from it. It is like a series of quick and jerky braking and releasing.
Please do not perform the test when you are not absolutely sure that it is safe to do so.

That is weird! The condition you describe is most often a self-test of the given system. If you have any mechanical background you can also pop the hood and peek at the brake master cylinder. The ABS system is visible in a rather obvious (when you know) way. If I can dig up pic in manual I will screen shot ABS system for your visual reference.

That is what it sounds like. I am really surprised it is not on the sticker! That should have been something you payed extra for and thus listed on the sticker. Just for grins see if the vin on the sticker actually matches the vin on your car.

that's what the instruction book says and that what happens in my car when i start it - when abs kicks in (on slippery road conditions) you will hear a very noticable vibrating sound and you will have no doubt that it has kicked in...

Go fast and slam the brakes, especially if its raining, and especially as you get over a manhole cover. If you feel the brake go crazy, and not lock your tires, you got ABS, if not, you will lock the tire and thus prove my point.

I like packed snow for that kind of testing. The cool part is 5 MPH on a gentle slope is plenty of speed.
