Look, all you can do is ask-- they're already inconveniencing you by extending a long trip by another 3 hours... so maybe they won't upgrade you to first class, but you might get free vouchers for other flights or hotel stays... my friend does this all the time... he says that the first ticket you buy just gets you in the airport, after that you can play lets make a deal. When we flew to Chicago for a hockey game we had an 8:30 am flight out of NY on United, only we made it through security at 6:45am. Well we ended up on a 7:20 am flight with drink vouchers for the plane (don't ask why we were drinking at 7:30 am) and a dinner voucher once we got into Chicago. No arguing, just polite conversation, a little flirting and a letter written after the trip commending the airport personnel.

So it's going to add at least 2.5-3 Hours to a very long day as it is and not to mention the time zone difference. We leave on Jan 26 2009 but don't make it back to Melbourne until Jan 28 2009 because of the international date line.

I really about this.

I'm going to drink myself stupid on the way back at Uniteds expense.
Then again you could live in a time when it takes a week to get there by boat.

Being a business traveler and having been stuck on a plane sitting on the ground for over eight hours I have learned when one travels by air one has to resign oneself to many, many circumstances beyond ones control.

I suggest you suck it up, deal with it and be thankful you can get from LA to Australia in less than 24 hours (unless of course you know of a way to get there faster?)

Any one of these would be quicker

Concorde would be quick. But the X-15 travelling at Mach 6 would be the quickest.

*MAD DOG*, I know that when you book a flight, you anticipate it being
on schedule and make arrangements accordingly, so I understand your
disappointment. Please know that sometimes we need to change our flight
schedule due to capacity or other operational issues. We do our best
to minimize schedule changes but when they do occur, we arrange for your
alternate flights as close as possible to your original itinerary. I am
sorry your itinerary was not satisfactory for you on this occasion, and
we hope we will be able to serve you better next time.

Further, your inquiry in regard to providing compensation due to the
schedule change is understood. However, as per our policy we are unable
to honor your request. Your understanding in this matter is
appreciated.

Your business matters to us. Please give us another opportunity to serve
you better.

Should I try and pursue this further or just let it go and deal with it?

Mad Dog,

I'd say pursue it further and emphasize on how much inconvenience you are having with the situation that they are putting you in

Definitely press the issue. Does another carrier fly the route you are taking? If so, call them and explain your situation. Maybe they can do better.
Call the regional manager. A call is much more personal and forces the CSR to deal with a "live" issue, rather than the print on a piece of paper. Remember, always be polite! Explain that the timing really screws you up, and that the new schedule is not what you paid for. Just keep pressing until you get what you want

A similar thread has already been created. Please use the 'Search' feature .

To offer an answer tho, I would guess it would be similar to a verbal conversation: Just because you didn't hear it the first time doesn't mean that you can't ever hear it. Similar conversations will happen over and over again...if you don't want to hear the conversation for the second + time - leave the room.

It was with regret to read of your disappointment with the further reschedule to your return United flight on 26 January 2009. I do apologise for the frustration and dissatisfaction caused as a result of your now having to connect via Sydney on your return to Melbourne. Whilst remaining apologetic for the inconvenience this has caused, I must take this time to advise, regrettably we will be unable to comply with your request for compensation, as per the Terms and Conditions agreed to at the time of making your V Australia booking.

12.3 Liability for schedule changes. Except as set out in Articles 12.5 and 12.6, and unless the Laws or the Conventions say otherwise, V Australia will not be liable to you for any losses that you incur as a result of schedule changes.

I realise this may not be the outcome you were seeking and for this I apologise. Please note this letter may be used to substantiate any insurance claim you may wish to make. Should your insurance provider require any further information or details, they may contact us directly on customercare@virginblue.com.au. Please rest assured I have logged your comments as an official complaint to ensure the Management Team are aware of your dissatisfaction and for internal discussion.

I am aware that your opinion of our service has been affected by this recent event and we regret any ongoing disappointment regarding our stance on the matter.

Kind regards,

I was refering to the fact that the same topic was talked about in different posts, back to back to back. You didn't even have to search. They were right there like, the tree was in the way of the freikin forest. Or the water was in the way of the ocean. Oh well.......... back to cross stitching.
