Hooking LEDs to the dimmer switch, any problem?

Will there be any problem if I hook up LEDs to the dimmer switch?? Does the current light such as the center console knob gets dimmer because of the extra draw?

Judging from this from CTScott

----------
10 Pin connector D29

Pin 1 - N/C
Pin 2 - Light Green: Output to radio, AC lights, etc
Pin 3 - White/Black: Ground
Pin 4 - N/C
Pin 5 - Brown: Power in from PANEL1 fuse
Pin 6 - N/C
Pin 7 - N/C
Pin 8 - Yellow: Output to Cluster
Pin 9 - Orange: Output to Hazard warning signal switch and Door lock switch
Pin 10 - Sky Blue: Power in from GAUGE Fuse (Ignition switched)
---------

Should I tap the light green wire to power my LEDs?

Thanks

You'd have to hook up quite a bit of LEDs to cause anything to dim. I've got 8 LED strips running off the door-open circuit and nothing is any dimmer than it was before.

From what I recall seeing here and there tapping that dimmer is a no-go...seems to be responsible for problems most of the time. Don't quote me on that however.

lucky for me i'm using the foglight switch illumination wire. our dimmer switches are located under the hazard button, and is only for the gauge.

i used that to wire up the door lock switch (center console, we don't have it here) so if it's any help, look for the wires that illuminate your switch (US/CA models usually have this switch) and wire from there.

I used the wire off the radio (green radio illumination wire off back of radio) my problem is I shorted this wire and while I replaced fuse and got power back, I no longer have dash or speedo illumination once I turn on parking light switch. Lights on dash on when parking switch off / off when parking light switch on. Anyone aware of a relay for dim/bright function of dash lights that perhaps I knocked out?

So you have replaced PANEL1 fuse, radio lights work when you turn headlights on but speedo and dash are dark? Does the speedo lit up when you turn off headlight?

If u have dimmer switch make sure its functioning properly

Speedo does light up when headlight switch is in off position.
Fuse it blew was 7.5a for panel lights. Fuse replaced.....wait a minute

Damn dude your genius, must have rolled the dimmer down by mistake in process of replacing fuse. Not usually ham-handed doing repair and wiring work. Problem was kicking my butt because I was reading voltage at radio wire. Thank you for the suggestion/problem solve.

Just wanna update if anyone is doing dimmer in the future,

I have found a way at least for me it works the best is to tap into the AT shift light both the positive and negative wire, I have since connected 4 Leds to it without problem. It's easy and convenient. dim-able with the dimmer switch
