Falken Drift Showoff... Houston Texas...
Long story short, we went out to compete at the Falken Drift Showoff of Houston last weekend. We had problems with the NST S13 so we borrowed an AUTOMATIC turbocharged IS300 from a friend and thought we'd give it a shot. 28 teams, 8 hours, 1 awesome weekend.
Official car having problems: Borrowed AUTOtragic: Finishing in FIRST place: PRICELESS!!! Enjoy... |

What awesome pics. Someone is good.
Makes the cars look like they are going, oh, 250mph or so.

Drift racing is stupid, I just guess i'm old school and don't associate japanese cars and performance.
Here is a link to a car that has REAL performance, and will be putting the order in for mine before sept. http://www.dodge.com/en/challenger/index.html |

^ What he said.
The Japanese auto industry has been paving the way of modern day performance. Take a look at the Skyline, Pretty much one of the greatest sports cars every built. With this "limited" perspective on anything non-american I can only see grassroots style performance not progressing into a more intelligent field of competition. It isn't all about straight line performance any more. We've grown up with taste, I'd rather have a turbocharged yaris pounding out 200 at the wheels and take that Challenger at the apex of every turn. It's a gorgeous car no doubt, but surely nowhere near the best. I see very little growth within the BIG 3 in how the approach manufacturing sport vehicles. It's all brawn and no brain. But if I were to own a true performance vehicle... I'm throwing in the chips for an 87 air-cooled Porsche 911 Turbo. Back to the topic at hand. I need to get back down to my home city of H-Town and catch some shows. Probably take a few lessons on how to hone my "drifting" skills. Not sure if I could even call it that. |

However, nothing says performance like a rekindled exact copy of a 1960's crap handling, bloated, watered down 'hemi', made by a company that is in the red and is close to dissolving. And I guess you also love the mustang eh?

Drift racing is pretty stupid actually. Quite interesting that Ford, Chevy, and Dodge have all thrown a few factory backed cars into Formula Drift over the past few seasons. FD = US Pro Drift Series.
