considering Yaris

Hi everyone! My name is Mike from Franklin, TN. I am looking to get a Yaris as my daily driver car. I currently ride a 2005 Yamaha YZF600R and my daily driver is a 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII. As the Mark VIII is a sweet old mans car i believe its age is becoming some concern as it has lots of miles and breaks weekly.

Of course I cannot leave any car I touch stock and I want to go turbo with it. How do you like yours and where are good parts places online. My monthly payments would be low enough to where I can get mods with ease. My current project car is a 2004 Volvo S40 that was GT2871R powered until its recent valve droppage due to stupid hydro lifters. Now its awaiting a Mitsu Evo 8 power/drive train swap that will be completed never.

The model Yaris I am looking at (apparently 5 door doesnt come in 5spd?) is the 3 door hatch in a dark red.

Thanks!!

-Mike

go for it!!!! you'll never regret pumping at the gas station because it'll be worth it, there's a lot of things you can do to the Yaris, cali yaris' got some supercharger and there's already a thread going on about an intake manifold, so you won't have problems finding upgrades

Yea man, go for it. Currently I average 40MPG in my 3-door hatchback. I've done a couple mods, but I have more on the way. You'd be surprised how much is actually out there for our cars.

I went out to get this car just as a commuter car that was good on gas. Now it's turning into a project car slowly but surely. (mostly because of this forum)

BTW, I ride also. I raced W.E.R.A. endurancing racing for 5 years. Love 2 wheels, but a roof and a heater is nice. I'm just to the north of you in Lexington, KY.

Hey, Mike... Another Kentuckian here! If you have a high mileage gas-guzzler that's breaking down, why the hesitation? I just did a test-drive of the 2009 two-door liftback and fell in love (was pretty sure that would be "my next car" when I tried it, but now am completely sold)... Enjoy!!!

well here is the dealio. looks like i will probably be getting an 09 black on black 5spd with just the convienance package. i test drove the sedan at the dealer to see how the tranny was (no manual liftbacks) and i love it. i did get a chance to drive my co-workers 08 5spd 3dr liftback and its what i want. im getting a yaris...no one will stop me.

Get it before next spring when gas prices will start to sky rocket again and demand for cars like this exceeds supply.

Congrats Mike. You won't regret it. Good call on going with the liftback instead of the sedan.

If you're ever up my way give me a buzz, we'll have a beer and discuss yaris mods.

5 door should come in manual, Toyota site is just weird and doesn't let you choose it as an option.

Or you can get an xD :P Same chassis with the T Sport engine :D

That's alright, 5 door gets worse gas mileage. But it sure does look cool.
