17 or 18 inches rims/tires..which one is better?
i need to decide soon and leaning towards 18 inches..but not sure if it's the best look. please help.
i'm not gonna lower it yet, but i will in the future. i don't want any problem with the warranty, i just bought the Yaris 3 days ago..brand new. any suggestion or maybe sample pictures of Yaris with 18 inches?? thanks.. |

look up my ride for 18"
My recommendation, if you have perfectly smooth roads with no potholes, go ahead with 18... If not, it's really too big... Looks really good, but uncomfortable, and easy to damage... 17 would be better, but I would go for 16" myself next time.

I would go with 16's, probably even 17's. But no bigger than that. I think 18's would be too much then It just looks stupid, that's just my opinion.

17 are usually the happy inbetween... they have a comfortable ride, you do not have to worry about pot holes hurting your wheels nearly as much and the tire and wheel prices are more afordable
there is my ride on 17's and I am not lowered yet either (but soon!)

I thought 16's were the "happy inbetween".
Anyway, there are a bunch of cars in Thailand with 18's and 19's, oversized tires, and lowered. Search for the photos on this forum. They look really cool, but as far as daily drivers go, well... Hey, Black Yaris, you're car is sooo black, I can't even see it! |

Those are 18's. 205/40/18. No drop yet. Well is your choice, almost no one likes 18's here on Yarisworld...

If I had it to do again I'd go with 14's and 195/45/14 tires with a full 5 inch drop

Thanks RedYaris I just put those 18"s for a while because I was thinking to use black rims with chrome lip, but everyone like those... I don't now what to do.

If I had to do it over again Id be on 17's. Seemed when I looked around (here at least) the rubber for 17's was the best bang for the buck. Plus if your going simply for looks the wheel choice was huge too.
Just a bit of food for thought but I was warned by everybody to be extremely carefull with big rims and low pro rubber since damaging them was so easy. Around here construction (and road construction) has been insane, everywhere I have to drive these days the roads are torn up or full of holes. Theres been at least three occasions where the edge of new to old paving hasnt been marked and Ive hit them full speed and havent had any problems. Ive pulled over cause it sounds like the suspension is coming through the hood but its been fine. Not saying care shouldnt be taken but im somewhat surprised how the wheels and tires have held up to road conditions. If I dont sell the ride Ill probably put 17's on it at some point.
