How long can a factory clutch last?
Hi All, I have owned a manual trans 2010 Yaris since new. I am currently at 300086 miles on the original factory clutch. Just wondering how long this clutch can possibly go? I was told by many folks that I would be lucky to get 100k out of it, but it seems just as tight as when new. How many miles have you guys gotten out of yours? The car honestly runs as good as the day I bought it! These cars are incredible to say the least. Thanks All!

I'm curious about this, myself. You pour over some of the posts on this forum, and it seems some people have had problems with their clutches prematurely failing on their Yari. But others like yourself have had all the luck in the world. I'm hoping I have as much luck with mine as you have had with yours, skelly. Bronsin had an old post giving some great advice on how to make your clutch last a long time. Your driving habits must be in line with what bronsin wrote in this post, skelly.

It really just depends on the user. I run my car hard and track it often. I changed the clutch at 120k because I noticed a degrade in engagement. It still had plenty of meat but I put in a higher capacity clutch because at the time I thought I was going to finish my turbo build...that was 4 years ago...and still n/a lol
A gentle driver for sure should get 200-250k minimum

It's not exactly having to hold a lot of torque. Mine has 170k miles and feels exactly like new.

I've driven only manual transmission cars over the last 35 years and never had to replace a clutch under normal circumstances.
I did have to replace the one in my VW Diesel, but I was towing heavy loads and the center hub ripped out of it. |

Yeah, it really depends on the user. Just like in my Innova 3040e https://bestobd2scanners.com/innova/...tic-scan-tool/ that lasts for 4 years now because I've really used it with care. And for a factory clutch, in my case, I change it every 150k mileage.

None of the cars I owned in 40 years with a manual transmission ever needed a new clutch. No motorcycle Either. Most of them had well over 100,000 miles.
It all depends on how much care you take. I never drove my car like Scotty.
