look at the time gap between "our" Yaris being launched in Japan, and its introduction to the USA, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say maybe a year? It's quite possible this time gap will remain for this new model too, but who knows... Toyota execs work in mysterious ways...

Other things to consider:

- The Scion xD has been around since 2008. Is it due for replacement soon, too?

- Toyota has always had a subcompact offering, even when there were nearly none available on the US market. (Think, Echo and Tercel ...)

- I would think it'd be crazy for Toyota not to have a b-segment car. Nearly every automaker (sans Mitsubishi and Subaru) has a subcompact offering these days.

- The 2012 Yaris was just announced for the Australian market this week (I believe): http://www.themotorreport.com.au/519...ance-confirmed

Just some food for thought.
Good points.

There's no way we're not getting the new Yaris. Nearly everyone's gotten into the sub-compact game when many never played before. Why would Toyota, the ONE brand that's always offered one in the US suddenly kill their b-segment offering?

Yup, the US get's everything last, especially when it comes to Japanese small cars. The current Yaris and Corolla took a year to get here. The iQ still isn't here after around 2 years. The first gen Prius took 2-3 years to reach us. And there's many more examples.
