will i need new lugnuts if i get aftr market wheels?

Depends on the wheels you have and the wheels you're going to get. Standard lugs for the steelies are the acorn 60degree taper lugs. Most wheels now use this style lug nut.

However: Some wheels have a shank style lug. Some Toyota wheels use a larger diameter shank lug. Some VW wheels use a hemispherical bolt or lug.

Most likely (but not always), yes. If the opening is narrower you will need "tuner" lugs. Our car uses the 12x1.5 size.

be wary of the spline drive lug nuts. . those splinedrive keys are fragile and do not handle side loading well.

i've had a set of Kyokugens for 6 years now, and have yet to break my key. 7-sided lugs FTW!

Yeah, the keys for spline drive nuts are weak. We have about 5 of them laying around here just in case any break.
