Clutch question.
Hey guys,
I am in the market for an upgraded clutch. I will be soon putting a lightweight flywheel in my car and I want to upgrade the clutch while i'm at it. The problem is...i'm not sure which one to go for. Micro image has a stage one clutch for $350 shipped. But TRDsparks has a upgraded clutch for $273. Now, obviously TRDsparks has a better price for a clutch, so I wanted to know if anyone has any experience with either of these clutches, and if so which one would be the better buy. For example; if the MI one has better grab to it and lasts longer, it may be more expensive but is better value. TRD clutch Micro image clutch Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! -Alex Last edited by Black_griffin6; 04-04-2013 at 08:46 AM. |

I have a CCR clutch personally, but of course my setup is much different than yours. I haven't heard much for feedback on the TRD unit, but I would not buy a TRD part imho mainly because it really isn't a Toyota part. Clutchmasters has a great reputation and Garm has had much success with them so I would go with the CM route, but once again that is just me. Plus I have ridden in several vehicles with a CM clutch. I prefer any clutch that has an Organic plate. Not sure if the TRD kit has an Organic plate or not?

I eventually want to go boosted, and i'm probably going to go with a centrifugal supercharger.
Do you think it would be better just go get a stage 3? |

I have the TRD clutch in my car. Have had it for about 40,000 miles. I like it well enough. All I have to compare it to is the stocker, though.

Not so sure that it would be recommended to go with a Stage 3 for very long on the stock setup, but someone else would need to weigh in for sure. Personally I believe in having things matched up for the here and now rather than what you plan to do because having something in too strong is just as bad as having something too weak.
