1. 5HP gain out of a 300HP engine would be ridiculous, but remember our weedwacker engines are not exactly all that powerful... 5HP is close to a 5% increase, which is not too bad, and small increases here and there will add up
2. This particular intake is $109 shipped, it's a decent chunk of change but not exactly a huge waste of money. As for your friend with his $600 intake, that's quite a different story
3. Looks better than the stock plastic box, sounds better too

If the guy's happy with the results, that's all that should matter, right?

Nice Man!!!! You just wont stop moddin. I got the AEM that goes over the rail and into the bumper area. It was a minor hp gain and a lot of rev up noise which is ok by me.

I went with the AEM and it's my favorite mod to date.

How was the AEM install? Was it a semi-long 'short-ram' also? LOLOLOL

Wish I would have had this DIY a month ago when I fumbled my way through putting mine in. I picked this intake for the price but also because it's the only one that shows actual dino results for in a Yaris with a 5hp gain. Can I feel 5hp? Probably not. Do I think I can feel 5hp? Youbetcha! I think it's a psychological thing that makes our brains make the connection between: more sound = more power. Every little bit helps though.

Very nice. I believe this is the first DIY I have seen for the intake. Was it just me or was the bolts at the bottom of the air box a pain in the @$$ to get out well at least down to.

My pleasure to provide this DIY for the Yaris. Sorry I didnt provide even more detail. I like to give back to this site which has provided me so much and has become an addiction for me.

Hopefully this will assist with future intakers.

The airbox bottom bolts were not a problem...Just had a long extension on my wrench, which the ladies love.

How easy is it to change/clean the filter? I had one on my last car and I had to pop the liner above my driver side wheel to change the filter, way too much work. This doesn't seem that bad, but still it seems like it could be trouble.

Filter cleaning is recommended every 3K miles. I dont look forward to taking it off, cleaning and re-oiling it thats for sure.

Nic3 tutorial redyaris. Kudos!

I'm in the process of installing one in my Vitz myself. I like the nice sound of the Flowmaster muffler, CAI and Turbo combined. I just drive up to 60 mph... no more; so hp are not relevant to me. Besides the faster you drive the more gasoline you burn and the more tickets you get ;) .

Anyway, thank you again for spending some time writing these DIY's. 5 stars for it!
