Brake Caliper not retracting
Hello! First time poster here,
I have a 2009 Yaris S and I just changed the Front Caliper, Brakepads, and Brake Hose. As far as I know everything is the right specs and size and they do install just fine. However when we bleed the brakes the caliper does not release the pads. The front wheels do not spin at all and when I disassemble the caliper it leaves marks on the back of the pads due to how tight they are. After we release the pressure they become pliable again and are easy to install. Do anyone have any idea whats going on here? Im happy to give more details if needed! |

Caliper pistons do not really retract by themselves. If, using a c clamp, you can move the piston back to it's fully retracted position, you're fine. Also make sure the slider pins move back and forth freely. Would be a good time now to take apart, clean, and lube the sliders.
Edit: just reread your post a little more carefully. Disregard my hasty response. Are you sure you have all of the air out of the brake lines?

Ill try to bleed them a little more! I didnt think air would cause them not to retract but Ill double check! Does anything else come to mind at all?

Get them so they are tight again, crack open the bleeder. Does the caliper free up? If so, the hose is mostly likely restrictive.

I had a sticking piston on one of my other cars. Drove me nuts since I knew it wasn't seized. Freed right up after I discovered there was an air bubble trapped in the line.
