Did some more painting...
Over the past weekend my girlfriend and I wasted an entire day taking apart the little vent things in the Yaris and painting them. My girlfriend spent hours just taping everything off. Tried to get the entire dash off, and would have if it wasn't for some airbag worries. Turned out pretty good though. She picked out the color scheme and I added some led's into the back of the vents while we had them apart. Turned out pretty cool. Added some carbon fiber trim to the cd player as well. Here's some pics. Not the best quality, as it was dark out.
That hole is waiting for a brushed aluminum grommet I ordered, so try to ignore the junky hole I cut while I wait. |

I'll give you credit... it looks like you guys were super careful about taping shit off and getting it right. I really don't like painted dashes, but it looks like you did a good job, so if you like it then cool. It is your car, after all.

Haha yeah well, my girlfriends car. I'm just a Yaris-owner wannabe. Maybe one day if my Jetta dies I'll be a true owner.

Not much of a fan of the colorful painted dash, looks like a good job though. I want to paint that main piece black on mine to black everything out. I don't know whats the proper way to do it though. My buddy was saying to sandpaper it down then paint. I don't know.

Step 1: Wet sand
Step 2: http://www.levineautoparts.com/buladprom.html Step 3: Paint Step 4: Clear... if you want. That is how you do it and make it last. Learned that from one of our more savvy board members... well more savvy than me at least. Last edited by ChinoCharles; 11-03-2006 at 03:28 AM. |

Yeah thats the duplicolor. Sprayed the adhesion promoter on their first, then the color then 4 coats of clear. If it was up to me I'd probably have it blue and black, but my girlfriend likes colors. Either way it was fun, seeing the finished product.

Soooooo..... is there a giant Spider Man emblem on the hood, too?
Actually, I know a guy that got a new VW beetle in blue awhile back and really DID do a Spider man theme with it. It even had a web across the hood! ~YR
