09 with yellow/foggy headlights

My wife's 09 Yaris 5dr is always parked outside and we don't wash/wax like we should and the headlamps are getting less effective. I've just replaced the bulbs with new ones, hoping it was that, but it's definitely the yellow/foggyness on the headlamps.

I've polished my headlamps before on other cars, and no matter what I did, about a year later it always came back, even when regularly applying protectant.

I'm thinking of ordering the LED foglights I've seen here, hoping they would compensate, but I might instead just buy new headlamps from online or something.

What have you done? Any advice for someone without a lot of time free?

I think, short of sanding down and applying a fresh coat of clear, shelf products will give you a year max before needing to go at them again.

^this. minus applying a coat of clear.

Sand them down with 800 Grit, then 1000, then 2500 or 4000 (don't go lower than 2500 for the last sand down)
hand polish using a hand-type rubbing compound. (safer than buffing machine + machine rubbing compound IMO). VOILA!

it should last you a good 2 years at the least. don't use any sort of protectant.
if it doesnt, it means that youre headlights are exposed to good amount of UV rays--be it the sun or from the HID bulbs.

I just wet sand with 2,000 grit and buff it out with an orbital polisher using Mothers compound and finisher. Comes out clear as glass.
