Rear Bumper Protector... - Toyota Yaris Forums

hey everyone, looking for some info that i couldn't find thru search.

i found a LB @ a local dealer w/ cold weather package installed. i'd reather buy off the dealer lot, that way i can avoid the risk of a long wait...but i can't stand the Rear Bumper Protector.

any idea if it can be removed w/ a heat gun?

Im sure, as it goes on with sticky stuff on the backside.. I believe its just a peel and stick install.

If you get it off in one piece, ill buy it.

the one i refered to eairlier was sold as are most in my area.

but if the one i end up w/ has the protector i'll let you know.

Bumper protector are really good... I doesn't have one on my 2003 Cavalier and my bumper is all scratched up on top. Even just by rubbing grocery bad is enough to scratch the bumper.

I'll pay to get a bumper protector FOR SURE when I'll get my next new car!!

if your bumper gets scratched, just put one on before you go to sell it :)

The entire underside of mine was coated in sticky stufff - not just 4 strips.

I've been looking on Ebay for a protector and some yaris carpets, so I can't recommend it to remove it. I actually like the looks of it. It's a nice accent to the an otherwise "bland" section ofthe car.

Is there a safe and easy way to clean the gunk that gets stuck around the edges of the bumper protector? It's getting kinda dirty around the edges and dirt seems to be getting up underneath the edges and sticking to the adhesive.

its gotta be just like all other extertior acc./stick-ons have been (body taped on) even if it is "glued" on (which just means cleaning left over residue will be more "intense").

what you need:
heat gun or blow dryer
dental floss or fishing line
sticker/goo remover

Directions:
1. heat up the protector for a bit
2. use either dental floss or some 10-20pound fishing line
3. "saw" just underneith the protector
4. re-heat the proctor as needed to make removal easy
5. use some sticker/goo removed for an auto store and do a nice clean-up where the protector was.
