I wish I'd done something like that.
I used the adapters that Crutchfield gives away with a speaker purchase...

update: rear thunder - dome - axials.

Update I got the rear speakers in as well yesterday. I did not need to modify or make any spacers or adapters. Was able to drill new holes to screw speakers in. I remove the foam ring from the stock speakers and fitted it around the back side of the thunder - domes so that there would be no metal to metal contact. So I now have 6.5 inch speakers all around and dame they hit much harder than the stock crappy speakers. I also installed a Clarion CZ500 deck with integrated blue-tooth... what a treat ! In the spring I will be amplifying the thunder - dome - axials at 70W rms x 4. For bass a single 12" mtx subwoofer pushing 400W RMS . Should be some killer sound !
