Buying a first car..lol

We have gone thru this but me...

You guys recommend used car or the yaris as a first car?
Sometimes Q1 2007. I'll be a full time worker for 6 month.
If new : under $15,000 (after taxes, etc )
If used : under $7,000 ( low mileage, I drive 400 miles a week)
I'll be making the car payment on at about 200-300 a month for at most 48 month with a $3,000+ down payment.

Is it true that after turning 25 the insurance price goes down alot?
My dad will be paying for it now but I'll take over after like a year after I get the car.

Things I plan to do on either new or used car: Speakers, lcd with computer, alarm, tints, rims, lowering, the basics steps to personalize it a bit.

What would you suggest?
Many thanks your for time.

Oh and 2 doors is okay, I don't mind 4 doors tho, not into 5 doors or suvs.

I'd buy a used car first. If you get a used car, you'll have money left over for mods. I'm not sure how old you are or how long you've been driving, but most teenagers driving there first car end up wrecking/totalling it.
It is true that once you turn 25, your insurance will go down. Insurance also goes down when you get married

How long have you been driving?

If it isn't much then you should get something used.

Of course the Yaris does get good gas mileage and prolly isn't that expensive to repair, so it is really your choice.

Just know that'll you'll prolly get into a few accidents along the way.

I'm 18 years old, currently attending college for my Associates but pursuing my masters. So I might be getting some college stuff discount..MIGHT! or just go thru my Bank loan. (citibank, bankofamerica)
I've had my license since November 2004.
My tickets is as follow:
Burned stop sign, first week of Dec 2004
Backed out on an high way emergency lane, July 2005 ( dont ask why )
Speeding 85 on a 55 august 2005.

I tend to speed on the highway only when I see a wolf pack or just creating one. My medium speed on my high way is 70-75 in like a 55 speed limit.
At least when I get my own car I wont drive like that since it will be at my expenses.

But I haven't gotten into any accident and hope that wont happen at all.

I'm into how to manage and maintain a computer so doing that to a car wont be much trouble except the $ part and I learned from my mother, sister and brother mistakes on how they take care of their cars.

Well if you are already 18 I think you might as well get a brand new car. Almost 2 years of driving should be enough.

Since you are still in college, I'd get a used car. Wait til you are out of college and then buy a new car.

I just got a call from a friend checking a 2003-2004 Civic Si fully loaded in the 45,000ish. What do you think of it?

Look for a used corolla 03 or 04. good mileage and you find lots of loaded ones at the used car lots.

That's a good price for the car. Does the car have any mod's on it? Honda's are good cars. I never had a problem with my '05 RSX type-s before I traded it in.
