Camera mount in action

I recently built my own dual-headrest camera mount and LtNoogie was nice enough to help me improve the design by sending me a pivoting base for my camera. I'm only using a 7mp point and shoot camera now but I plan on building a sub-bracket off of the one I am using and mounting an actual camcorder in addition to the point and shoot...you will see why. :)

Here are a couple pictures of the mount and a video I made today using the new pivotal base. Thanks Lt!

Here is the video, please enjoy!

Thanks Mike! It's not the most exciting video, but I wanted to see if the camera mount was stable and it seemed to do a great job!

I'm working on something as well, but using a tensioned curtain rod from floor to ceiling. Should work pretty good and a snap to take in and out in seconds

very interesting, when do you plan on having it close to completed?

Nice mounting head ;) I rock Manfrotto gear as well.

I'm actually looking at a couple different setups for external mounts atm myself.

Very stable video! Much more stable than my mount which cantilevers off of one headrest. (I used the word cantilever because Matt's a mechanical engineer, I think)

Next you need to figure out a way to remote control the camera. I find it very difficult to drive and reach at an awkward angle to start and stop the recording.

sweet! I was thinking about getting a small security style camera and mount it into my lower grill.

and it mounts to your floor board on either side of the e-brake assembly?

definitely, that's another reason why i want a true camcorder; it'd be nice to have a rotating screen with external controls.

I'll have to snap some pictures of the rods so you can get an idea as to what I'm talking about. It uses tension just like a curtain ron from one end of the wall to the other. Never a fixed hard mount, but a secure mount due to the tension on both ends of the rods, floor to ceiling

You are a mechanical engineering dork. Don't you know that systems engineers rule?

Come to think of it, that sounded pretty dorky too. Good thing the ladies don't look at these threads.
