how big of a cap?

I have been running a 1 farad and never noticed headlights dimming with my old set up...was running my components off deck power and the subs were using a sony 1200w amp. i doubt it could hit 1200w unless lightning struck it, hance why my headlights never had dimming issues i suppose. but, i am adding a 300w jensen amp into the mix now, and the deck will be upgraded, so the power draw will be increasing.

so, think i am fine keeping the 1 farad or should i look at getting a extra cap as well?

edit: added 300w amp brand name

i say you are fine with just 1 cap.

a friend of mine has a huge orion 4 channels (100wRMS x4) (this amp is actually taking the 4/3 of the hatch space) and a 300wRMS mono. he needed 0ga wireing for the power and the lights only dime when idle. no cap.

well, while both the amps claim a higher max power, these are not name brand amps, and I suspect that they are no where near their claimed power.

anyway, more opinions on off 1 farad is enough would be greatly appriciated!

I am guessing you are refering to the other poster, because I am not running a 4 channel. I will be running a single 300w 2 channel amp and a 1200w bridged 2 channel sony xm-2002GTR amp....both were listed max and not rms power.

EDIT: I am most likely going to stick with the 1 farad and hope for the best. It will be housed behind the box and will be a PITA to get at, so I will just hope for the best, lol.
