2014 Yaris or 2014 Corolla
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkQxHoB-QeU
Toyota might be trying to build up the suspense for the 2014 Corolla, but Yaris owners will probably find very little reason to trade up to the 2014 Corolla. The current Yaris HB has a very solid feel for a small vehicle, and is built in Japan to boot. Meanwhile, the 2014 Corolla will be larger and built in NA, so some of the structural bits will probably be compromised even more to make the car lighter and more affordable. Any takers for the 2014 Corolla S? In blue? |

After looking at this Corolla again, I think it looks pretty good. Just too darn big for my liking, though.

Doesn't do anything for me. If I were to buy a car in this segment, I'd rather get a Honda Civic Si sedan with 200 horses & a 6-speed manual.
Toyota needs to release a Corolla with similar specs. A re-release of the XRS would be nice. If not, the Yaris SE with a 5-speed manual fits the commuting bill. I have my other car to have fun with. |

I just.. well, I don't see me getting a bigger car.
Nor do I see me getting a car made in France either. Shame Toyota is outsourcing like that for the Yaris. If I ever do buy a new car, I'll see which ones are still being made in Japan.

If I got a 2nd car...a 'non-economy car'....it would be an AWD vehicle. I'd first look for an older RAV 4 with low miles (a clone of Idahotom's great find, his white RAV 4). If I couldn't find one, then my head would say new Subaru Impreza liftback, but my heart would say the (AWD) Mini Countryman ALL 4 (also new, not used).
