Consumer Reports

tell me why they, Consumer Reports, is praising the FIT like crazy, but they listed the Yaris as one of the car under "most disappointing".

"The Yaris offers excellent fuel economy and reliability. But the good news ends there. Emergency handling is sloppy, there's a lot of noise, the driving position is uncomfortable, and stops are very long without the optional (but hard to find) antilock brakes."

they made the FIT a "CR Recommended" and say the Yaris scored too low to be "recommended". BS, the FIT costs and brakes about the same as a Yaris, but is a second lower in 0-60 times, and gets lower mpg. don't see why they made it "recommended". this pisses me off...

i guess they all wanted a mini-minivan?

For most folks the fit may be a better value and more usefull, gotta just face the facts. That extra space, fold flat rear seats, and more standard features makes it much more appealing to the average person.

The yaris is more appealing when baseline, its much cheaper and is wonderfully simple.

"just spend 3-4k more, and get alot more!", well, yea, but at that point your talking 20-25% more $... thats like saying "just get this car thats 37500, its so much better than this car thats 30000".

I could never drive the fit, not with its current styling... but thats just me. Kitted up it looks ok, but a yaris with equivelent mods will look much better... and apparantly from the last siphon mag, walk the fit @ the track.

yeah, i'll admit that the standard ABS on the FIT is a plus, but i've never had any problems with my brakes. and yeah, i got that issue of Siphon and the Yaris simply kicks ass.

Buying a car is like finding a woman... whats inside counts, but it sure is nice to have a pretty exterior! Never perfect, there are always comprimises.

Maybe that means us yaris owners are shallow?

Shallow? We got what's good on the inside, and she's beautiful to boot. No shallowness about it. Women like this are harder to find than the Yaris was last september.

You have to remember how long the FIT has been out with little change. It was released in June 2001, not much has changed and its 2007

The yaris is sexy, with very simple internals.

I'd say its blond... but then again, I was born blond so my ability to recognize blondness may be swayed!

Im sure gay Yaris owners on this site will appreciate your opinions.

The Fit was disappointing

I thought the Fit looked fine, and I loved the base features, but the ride was horrible. I can not see how it rated so well in every publication. I felt like I was riding in a bad golf cart on a horrible gravel road. Very, very choppy. I'm not crazy about the Yaris dash, but it looks great and drove so much better. Now I just need mine to get here.

I think I'm not the only one on here to say they have seen many more yaris than fit! I've seen verrrrry few fit around, and I do keep an eye out... even fewer versa.

I totally disagree with Consumer Reports. The seat is extremely comfortable, even on an 8 hour trip, and I found no issues with any of the other stuff they bitched about.

Agreed. Everyone that sits in the Yaris instantly compliments the comfort of the seats. Then they laugh at the polkadot stitching. Can't win 'em all.

While my passangers have always commented on how comfortable they are, I get really uncomfortable in the drivers seat after more than 30 minutes. I think it might be because I'm petitie (5'1") I'm having a hard time finding a comfortable position, I have the optional armrest but I'm so small that my elbow isn't anywhere close enough for me to use it.
