Auto trans. drain and fill?
Has anyone performed a drain and fill on thier auto tans. yaris? I'm thinking about doing my 09 every 30,000 miles. I'm talking about a simple drain and fill with Toyota WS fluid.
The owners manual says 2.6 qts. Any tips? Has anyone seen a write-up on this procedure? Thanks... |

Search, I believe it's been discussed and the consensus was that it didn't need to be changed before 100K...if I am not mistaken, it is a "sealed" system...

There's a drain plug on the bottom of the transmission pan, so you can drain it without dropping the pan. At 100K you'll want to drop it and replace the filter.
If you do a simple drain, you won't get the complete 3.1 quarts that it holds. |

I was told there is no filter its a metal screen, so you wont have to ever change a transmission filter, I have drained my transmission fluid 3 times, very easy to do and yes I have replaced it with toyota WS, cause I haven't found anything else approved that may be better. refill through dipstick, I buy 3 qts of fluid and you will have some left over.

There seems to be two schools of thought on these filters - Some say that they will last the life of the transmission and others say that they should be replaced at a regular interval. |
