Best replacement tires for stock '09
Just brought home this '09 5door 'S, under 38,000 miles, in nice shape.
Of the first couple things, I'll need to purchase a set of tires - came with mixed set of 186/60/15. More important criteria - freeway handling/stopping, less road noise, tracking/stability in crosswinds. Has stock wheels - I've never bought aftermarket rims... do I need to? ( also needs stronger headlites & window tint - will visit those in other threads). |

You can keep the stock wheels as long as you buy a 15" tire.
I recommend the Hankook H727's. Nice priced all-season performance tire. As for handling vs. road noise, they usually counter-act each other. Generally, more handling = wider tire (195/55/15 or 205/50/15), and less road noise = skinnier tire (stick with the 185/60/15). I'd say for what you are looking to do, I'd get a set of 185/60/15 Hankook H727. The crosswind trait is a part of the car - a rear sway bar or a set of lowering springs will help correct it. |
