Royal Purple Transmission Fluid

Could you please rate/give your opinion on Royal Purple manual transmission fluid? I want to replace my stock, but am not sure whether to do Royal Purple or some other brand. And Search Nazi, please just leave me alone on this one lol.

What search Nazi? Who could that be?
But my 2 cents is AMSoil, for the same amount of money I think AMS if the better oil from the SEARCHing I have done in the internet about class IV synthetic oils

BTW.... so far I have been called the Tire Nazi and the Search Nazi... Ich bin nicht die Nazi!

I used the Royal Purple, but mainly because it was the only good quality Synthetic available to me at my local auto store. Too lazy to drive farther and didn't want to wait to order.

Figure everyone likes their oil, so the transmission oil couldnt be all that bad.

OK....almost everyone. For clarification I use Mobil 1 Motor Oil in my car.

My choice of nearby tranny synthetics were Royal Purple or Walmart Syn-Tech Something or other. You do the math.

But is Royal Purple synthetic transmission fluid objectively good? Of if not, what brand do you recommend?

no, we were talking about manual trans fluid

I tried the Royal purple manual transmission fluid in my car & had problems with the synchros while downshifting. I now use Redline MT-90, with no problems and no grinding. The Royal purple is too slippery.

I read many good reports on warren semi syn gl4/5 at WM fo r 7 buck/qt. with soft metal protection. I'm no fan of PAO group iv base for gear or engine oils. But in an arctic app you dont have a big choice. BTW gear oil is = about a 20w-40 in engine oil "terms". IN fact my fiat used 20w-40 engine oil in the transaxle with no problems. This says to me that the yaris could use m1 racing 4t superbike oil as a killer tranny fluid for the winter - if you dont do full throttle drop clutch street racing on it ;)

Interesting.
I wanted to change the (manual) tranny oil in my Celica to snythetic but, the local Toyota dealer's sevice manager advised against it expessing the same concerns about it being too slipery and causing syncro problems, etc.

Perhaps there was some truth in his advise after all.
