yaris alarm
okay so i have been having this issue with my dealership....again..... lol, well its kinda with my dealership.
i was told and i keep being told by certain ppl at some dealerships that my car (2010 canadian RS) has a stock toyota alarm that should infact go off when a door is foreced open. according to owners booklet the 2010 yaris does in fact come with an alarm (no where does it say "if eqqipped") now my problem is my alarm wont go off........ my dealership is trying to play it off that it needs a longer period of time for the doors to be locked before the alarm becomes armed? and from another dealership i was told the yaris only comes with the immobilizer crap..... its beginning to piss me off, luckly i am comforted knowing here on yarisworld (where more is known then toyota themselves) my problem can be helped :) lol basically i am asking if the 2010 yaris comes with a toyota alarm and if so what are the conditions in which are needed for it to alarm.

I haven't seen anything that says that the '10 comes stock with the OEM alarm, but perhaps it's a Canada thing. The quickest way to tell if you have an alarm or not is to take a peek behind the passenger glove box. If you have the alarm, then next to the TPWS ECU, will be another black box of about the same size. If you pop the glove box and this is all that you see (the TPWS ECU is circled), then all that you have is the immobilizer: |

It's only stock in Puerto Rico (2010)
(I went through the same thing) I'd bet you only have the immobilizer |

thanks! but wow...... that really sucks..... (my moms 01 camry has an alarm, WTF)
now does the yaris have the wiring installed for an alarm module or would it be a mission to get just a simple alarm?

The wiring is there for the Toyota TVIP alarm, but installing an aftermarket one would require the usual work. Fortunately, everything wiring-wise is so accessible that it's not that bad. Most of the wiring info is in the DIY that I put together on the wiring for installing a remote starter.

Nobody responds in any useful way to a car alarm, anyway. They just make annoying noise.

Lol. How did you do that? Do you have a timer hooked up in your car that sets the alarm off?

Don't leave your windows open with anything valuable in your car. A car alarm won't save it.

It shouldn't give you peace of mind. Nobody responds to car alarms, other than the car's owners.

The only time da fuzz responds is when someone calls or they drive by it.
The alarm your referring too is a panick alarm...I presume you have the power package...look at your key,the red button is for that purpose. If you see a clown by your car press-it...beep,beep,beep!. |
