Suspension part interchangeability for 2015 5 door hatch back
Hello
Does anyone have any idea about part interchange ability between yaris generations? I have a 2015 and nobody has aftermarket frame braces or strut/ shock tower braces. The pics look the same except for the mounts on the shocks. I would love to start a sticky on parts interchangeability. First example is the sway bar from the 2013. The PTR11-52071 is supposed to bolt right up. I am installing one on my 2015 Le 5 door hatch. What else can I get away with? |

Pretty much anything suspension-wise from a 2nd gen(06-11) will bolt into a 3rd gen hatchback(12-19).

Are the shock and shock mounts the same or different>
Thanks Mitch.
I thought the shock mounts and front strut tower are different (I want to install a strut tower brace.). Last edited by Calrenman; 04-03-2022 at 03:36 AM. |

I have a Tanabe strut bar ready to go onto my car next weekend when I swap onto my summer wheels and the part number is the same between the NCP91(2nd gen hatch) and NCP131(3rd gen).

Nice
Let me know how it works. I have not purchased the strut bat yet.
I am looking at the "Front Strut Bar for 2006-2020 Toyota Yaris XP90 XP150 1.5 Hatchback Ultra Racing" (link below). Have you had any experience or heard any reviews with this company's gear? The braces look stout! I put a "horn brace" and a urethane suspension on my hatch back 3cyl./5 speed 1998 GEO Metro. It was fun in the canyons here in L.A./ Ventura. 0 to 60 in under an hour! https://www.ebay.com/itm/11519063749...4AAOSwL2hh4PVT |

They seem to be fairly decent for one that is non-adjustable. I recommend the Tanabe one, you can adjust it.

What does the adjustment do? Camber? Or just stiffen the ride?
Is the tanabe four bolts or two? Do you have a part # or link handy? I am new to the mods on this car. My car has been in a fender bender so adjustment may be a good call. Car tracks well. I cannot wait to put the sway bar on. The freeway is wobbly in the wind. Thanks for the heads up. |

Planning a wedding eats up alot of time. On the other hand, my exhaust came in from Japan so I get to install that too at some point

Here is the strut bar, fits like a glove. Mounting the brackets is a pain, there isn't enough clearance between the bolt and strut assembly for a socket/extension so it requires alot of patience but other than that it fit perfectly. Might be easier if you remove the wiper cowl but I did not.

That looks great. Did it improve your handling?
It looks nice. A whole lot of Quarter turns... sucky! I will probably drop the strut. The 2015s had a recall for the strut bearings. So I will check them. Your car looks good!
Did you "tune" the front end or just put the bar in snug? Quote:

You're supposed to snug up the bar while the front wheels are still off the ground so thats what I did. IMO its more of a show piece than an "upgrade" for normal driving, it seems to help with body roll when you're cornering hard though, especially coupled with the TRD rear sway bar.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I may do this one too!
I like the look of it. I do ride hard in the canyons here in So. Cal so I might get some bang for the buck!

I installed the sway bar and some rubber spring spacers that firmed the ride up and it tracks completely "true" now.
The slop in the rear axle/ trailing arm is gone! TRD sway bar is the way to go! I also installed a trailer hitch for a bike rack that seemed to stiffen it up too. I may have made contact with a Japanese Manufacturer of frame and body braces for test fitting some braces on the 2015 Yaris 3rd gen with an automatic. It may help get parts lists "UPDATED" and expanded. I will go to their shop at the end of the month. I will figure how to get pictures and video up to share results. |
