Question Avg. MPG readout resets after refuelling

Greetings from East Sussex, UK.

Wondered if this is normal behaviour for a Yaris? After filling up with fuel it seems the computer resets the average mpg readout. Doesn't seem right to me.

Car (new to me) is a 2010 1.33 VVT-i with 103k miles on it.

Thanks for all and any thoughts.
