Double DIN Touch Screen DVD/Navi/iPod Head Unit (eBay Edition)

I took a chance and ordered one of these 'no name' WinCE based dvd/navigation system units from ebay. They've been around for quite some time but the new(er) WinCE 6.0 based with x2 ram units caught my attention and may have improved a little.

Here's an actual company (Dynavin) that market these types of WinCE OS Nav/DVD entertainent system specifically the "OEM" builds for Audi's, BMW's etc. http://www.dynavin.com/products.php

This unit seems like a good all-in-one solution (and I could live with a few quirks here and there, it's WinCE afterall lol) but I also think anything will be an upgrade compared to the existing OEM deck IMO.

It's suppose to fit snuggly in the dash of the yaris hatch with no bezel change. The seller have confirmed it and includes all the appropriate toyota wiring harness, at least for North American version Double-DIN w/ 200mm width opening.

..and confirmed as well by CTScott from his post here:

I'll post an update once I have it installed in about 1-2 weeks (currently in transit) and provide a quick review of the unit.

I did a search here and couldn't find any info/pictures of anyone who have installed one of these newer units recently. If you have one (even if it's older) please post up your rig on this thread and share your experiences. thanks!

Definitely, i'll post as many pics of the install as I can. I'm guessing it should not take any more than 30 minutes to swap the HU.

As for the review of the system, that I'd have to give it at least 2-3 weeks of use before I can share any pros/cons about the unit.

Im really curious how this goes for you. I had a 7" flip screen no name POS DVD player that was OK for watching TV and movies, but totally sucked for music, ran hot, and blocked my vents. Also this would save me $10/mo on my phone bill since I wouldn't need the VZ navigator anymore (although it does show gas stations and local businesses) and from the screen shots looks pretty decent. Id really like to do a carputer but complexity and cost can get pretty high.

I was considering this unit as well for my HU replacement. I'd be really eager to hear what you think about it, especially its Ipod interface whenver you have info.

I tried to research it as well, but found very little info from the company or reviews

Definately keep us poseted and good luck!

I ordered it from eBay, the price is in AUS dollar and I made an offer of $500 AUS (=approx $428 canadian). Here’s the relisted item:

I still have not received it yet so not really sure... don't really know how i'll go about routing the ipod/usb/AUX/etc connectors -- guess i'll figure that out when the time comes... but drilling holes in the glovebox might be the only option.

Toy, is this the same seller that you purchased yours from or another seller with the same item?

For the USB with my unit, I ran the cable from the back of the HU, under the center console area (with the shifter, ebrake, etc), and used one of the mounting slots next to the AUX and lock buttons. Just popped out the square, cut a square, and mounted the cable inside.

I've got pics, and I'll get them posted sometime in the next couple days and edit this with a link.

Looking forward to a review.

Cheapest dual-din Navi solution I've seen locally is $800, plus install.
