Just bought a 2007 yaris 4d sedan
As it says I just bought my first yaris. It's a great little vehicle as far as I can tell. I have only test drove it once and my mechanic gave it the approval.
2007 4 door with power everything, abs, cruise control, cd and aux cable, automatic. It has 41800 miles on it. 1 owner before me bought new from from dealer. Clean under the hood and inside the car. Brand new tires and battery put on this year. So I bring it home on Thursday when I get back from work. I'm paying 8800 for the vehicle. Is this a fair price? Also what can I start doing to help improve gas mileage? I've been reading a lot on here already and I guess I'm not seeing what I'm looking for. My average drive is 84 miles round trip to and from work. mostly highway and interstate. So 65-75 mph most the drive. Sorry for the long winded post just trying to start figuring out what I should do. Plan on getting a full synthetic oil and good air filter. But beyond that what should I do? Thank you for the help! Welcome. For a car with that few miles it is probably a pretty good deal.
As to getting better gas mileage, slow down, accelerate slowly, and don't use the brakes. You drive enough that you should be able to get good gas mileage. What car are you coming from?

Thank. I'm a member on a few other forums. I have to get use to new forum rules and the members.
I'm coming from a 98 nissan pathfinder 4x4. I will keep it for winter and I when I get called on a search. I'm a k9 handler my shepherd wouldn't enjoy the yaris much haha. This car is to get back and forth from the job (I'm a police officer) to home. I can't wait to get it and stop driving the 12-14 miles a gallon hog. Probably sent from my German Shepherd |

I think the price was a little high on the one hand. On the other hand you've bought a very reliable car that gets great mpg with very low miles on it.
Every Yaris comes with Yaris World where people are happy to answer any questions you may have about your car. And if anything goes wrong every Yaris comes with something no other car has. That would be CT Scott who can tell you whats likely to be the problem. Even if you take the car to a dealer or your own mechanic its good to know what to steer them to so you don't get flim flamed.

Thanks everyone. I feel I didn't do to bad on the price. I watched a youtube video of a guy that got 400000 in 3 and a half years and could still do 115 no worries. I'm feeling good about my purchase

It all depends with how the cars were driven and maintenance. If the previous owner did only 2mi round trips for the past 7 years, that means the car would have barely be over 5000miles and I probably would not buy it for even 3000$ ...
Where I prob would still pay 6000$ for trini's yaris with 500000miles. |

I'm impressed with the yaris from all I have read. I can't wait to see what mine might turn out like. I'm loving the ideas on this forum. Is the scanguage II worth getting?

Pump the tires up. I personally run 54-56psi in mine. Take out the carbon trap that is riveted into your airbox lid. Otherwise good synthetic oil and thats it. The stock style air filter is fine. Its cotton and flows well.
Drive easy. Anything else will cost you mileage. Leave the stock exhaust alone.

I wouldn't go as high as 50psi on the tires...
going that high will wear the middle of the tires prematurely and you risk of exploding at high speed. |
