Hi all. Just bought a 2010 5 spd 2 door hatchback black with 130k.

I've spent 15+ yrs driving Ford Festiva's (rebadged mazda 121). Was active on the Festiva form. I will asking questions and researching. Need / want to do a few things to the Yaris.

Thanks for having me

I too have a second gen manual, and I will agree the car is tricky to drive if you are not used to it, but I would say it is due to the drive-by-wire throttle as opposed to anything wrong with the gearbox or clutch. With that said, once you get used to it, I think the manual is much more fun to drive because of the lack of power from the engine. You can get more out of the car by being able to control the gear selection.

Regardless I love the Yaris. These cars are great value!
Yes, you are right! My brother who used that manual Yaris more often said so, he says once you get the right feel with the clutch and throttle combination, it's good to go, but wait until your car stopped at the steep road (like at mall entrance or some stop & go at crowded mountain road), you legs and hand really have to work hard to maintain your car position and keeping the engine from turned off because of slippy clutch

I have heard/read that the clutch in Yaris models before those was pretty dismal.
In Indonesia, the 2015 Yaris also still used the 1NZ engine but with completely redesigned and way more bigger body style (we called it Yaris "Lele" or Catfish). However, I also used to have the 2017 Yaris Heykers M/T (bought brand new in early 2018 with a big discount from local Toyota dealer since they have a lot of stock left because this model is not so popular due to its weird styling). This model came with newer 2NR-FE 1.5L engine (the same engine used on Toyota Sienta). Unfortunately, I have to sold this car earlier this year due to pandemic (I cannot afford to keep 3 Yarises at once, the annual road tax is too expensive to pay), honestly, the clutch in this car is more comfortable compared to my old Yaris with 1NZ-FE. In my opinion, it just feels more normal.

What did they change? I have a '14 and the clutch is super annoying. Especially when its cold, its reeeeally grabby and likes to shudder which makes smooth driving difficult especially with the zombie-like throttle response until it warms up from use.

Hi guys, I'm looking to get a used Yaris hatchback in my area, and I'm thinking by April I should have one already. I'm getting an automatic as I currently own two manual cars.

Hi all new guy from Australia, loving browsing the site!

Looking to buy a 3dr manual hatch as a daily driver. Plan would be modest lowering, TRD sway bar, 16x7 Rotas shod with sticky rubber, and an audio upgrade.

Cheers!

Welcome mate!

You'll struggle to find a TRD sway bar here in Aus. It will be easier to buy the NCP91 whiteline bar and trim one of the mounting blocks to ensure 100% clearance of the fuel tank.

New here, so here's a pic of my Yaris. 07 2 door hatchback that I got this past December. It was my dad's purchased new I got it after he passed. I did a few minor mechanical repairs as it only has 130k on it. My son and myself installed the D2 air ride and tinted the windows. More mods to come so it will sit on pavement when he's aired out.
