Parking an Automatic on an Incline

My LB is an auto, and my driveway has a significant incline to it. I am trying to get into the habit of putting the transmission in neutral first, setting the parking brake, then shifting it up into 'Park' as I think it takes some of the strain off of the transmission. My logic is that the brake takes control of the car and handles the gravity from the incline, thus saving the transmission from doing so.

Here's my question...does that make sense? Or am I wasting my time?

Cheers! M2

Use your E-brake.

That's exactly what I do, as you described. Try using just the Park, and you'll hear a nice, loud "CLUNK" when you put it in D.

i don't know if the park PIN is any related to the transmission, but i wouldn't want to put strain on it too often. Thought, it should not affect anything?

I remember driving school taught to pull the e-brake before shifting into park.
