610 hp vette owner trading my winter camaro ss for a Yaris.. questions......

New to the forum Hello to everyone !! I am not new to Yaris' my wife bought hers new in late 2006 (2007 model) brand new and its been flawless ever since (except for flickering battery light). I actually love driving the car. it's light and fairly agile and great on gas.

My questions to you guys are I am looking at another 2007 for me. I do plan to do appearance mods and slight suspension mods to the car and wanted to ask about it.

1. how hard to swap lowering springs/struts on these cars?

I planned to get better shocks and lowering springs and swap out the entire assembly in the winter/summer which will keep me from having to pay to get the springs removed every season.

2. Is there a reccomended strut/shock and lowering spring that everyone likes on this forum?

3. Has anyone wired a tach to the dash area behind the steering wheel? This would be my first project as I think it would make the dash look real sexy.
If anyone can shed any insight to doing this that would be great.

I'll be decidng which rims to go with before I buy the car :) I do have a 600+ 8000 rpm corvette which is my toy. I have a baby girl now and I sold my camaro and am thinking to pick up a yaris and do appearance mods and enjoy the gas savings and have a car that I can throw a baby seat in as well as making the wife real happy.

Any thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated !!!

1. Not hard at all and can be done in your driveway with a jack and a pair of jack stands. If you have worked on cars before, shouldn't take more than 3 hours.

2. Everybody seems to have their opinion on this. I have the TRD springs which gave me about 1.5" drop. I kept my stock shocks/struts. Really depends how much drop you want and how stiff a ride.

3. Yes, this has been done.

1. i swap mine in/out in spring/fall myself in my driveway.

not hard, just a pain as you have to take off the wipers, cowling, etc to get at the strut tops up front.

2. last winter i ran eibach prokits (1" drop f/r) on stock shocks, last summer i ran megain coilovers with about 2" drop front and 1.75" rear. currently on stock shocks and eibach sporlines....about 1.3" front and 1.5" rear

3. americans have to wire a tach if they want one since the US model doesnt come with a tach in the center console. microimageonline.com sells a 3pod cluster that sits on top of the steering column which works great for a tach and 2 other smaller gauges...

btw, im selling my miata wheels w/ tires for $300 in the classifieds section....as shown in my signature...

oh and welcome to the forum!
