Daily Driven Yaris @ 10 PSI

Looks like I get to be the guinea pig. After spending the weekend going over my turbo kit we found a torn coupler connecting the charge pipe to the intercooler. I replaced it and swapped the worm gear clamps out with t-bolt clamps and voila! 10 PSI in second gear at WOT on the stock motor. We will see if it blows up.

Unfortunately I don't have a still camera worth taking pictures with, but the guy going with me to the strip tomorrow has a D200 and is a pro photographer so I'm stoked to see those pictures.

I do have a mini HD camcorder that I will have with me tomorrow and this weekend.

I gotcha Garm.

It wasn't the clamps that caused the problem. There was a gash in the coupler, presumably from a rock. It is the lowest hanging spot on the car, so I probably bottomed out at some point. I replaced it with something a little more durable.

The funny thing is even if it doesn't, the Yaris still won't "handle" this much boost, because most of you have this preset preminition that it won't. Unfortunately, that is what Yarisworld is all about. Assumption.

+100 points to the first person to keep an open mind.

Keep in mind I saw a Yaris that ran this kit for 2 years, and yes, it STILL ran.

My theory is the clutch will go first. Mine is starting to go but starting and gone are two different things. It isn't slipping yet.

I think the stock forged rods will hold up fine, oh yeah I have been running around for over a year boosted too without problems, DETONATION is what has killed engines! get fuel management.

Glad you're running strong with no boost leaks anymore . You should really invest in the snow performance boost cooler kit . Its a water/meth injection that pretty much eliminates all chances of detonation and lowers cylinder temps big time . http://www.snowperformance.net/product.php?pk=8
I bought this same kit from summitracing for like 300 I think

If it isn't slipping, how do you know it's starting to go?

10 psi? On what turbo?

PSI ratings are meaningless without referencing the turbo producing it.
