Rear Clear Lights
Yes I searched and read all the threads about these. I wanted to just ask one, simple question: on a scale of 1 - 10, how easy are they to install for someone with intermediate experience with cars?

Pretty easy, remove a plastic panel on each side of the trunk, then remove two 10mm bolts from each light assembly, unplug the wiring harness and pop the old ones out. Rinse and repeat backwards with the new ones.
P.S. This was a legit question and I am happy to provide an answer for hopes that it may help other members as well

Very easy. 30 minutes or so. Trickiest part is getting the old ones unplugged. It was a very tight fight on the passenger side, easier on the drivers side.
Sorry not sure whether you mean 1 is easiest or 10 is easiest. |

After messing with them so many times, I can have my tail lights out in 2 minutes. Literally. It is a piece of cake.
If you're replacing your stock tail lights with the TYC tail lights, which just plug into the stock harness, it is super easy. If you're using tail lights from other countries, you'll have to do some custom wiring. That was a little bit of a PITA considering the colors on the wires don't match up. I had to use trial and error to get them hooked up right. Drove me nuts. |

This mod is easy to do, no problem. The ladies in our forum actually "inspired" me to do the mod.

Definitely one of the easier "mods" to do. Hardest part was unplugging the stock lights.
Can't wait to do it again once new tail lights are available for the '09 5-door LBs. |

I also replaced my lights with the clear TYC tails, and I think they look better than anything available for the Yaris. They should have came stock. Add to that, the fact that they are plug-and-play to the existing wiring, and its a no brainer. Each side has 2 nut and bolt pairs to loosen, and off come your old tails with a bit of pulling away from the vehicle. 30 minute job, if that.
To top it off, I recently added a pair of PHILIPS SILVERVISION INDICATOR BULBS DESIGNER PY21W, to get rid of the orange, fried egg look in the housing. I also replaced my front signals with the same bulbs. These bulbs are amazing quality and made in Europe. They are compatible with North American fittings. The bulbs are just as bright as the standard amber signals and do not flash the same dim orange that other, cheaper chrome coated bulbs do. I also added a pair of PHILIPS P21.5 W 12V /21W SIGNALLING BULBS P21/5 PHILIPS for the stop lamps. |

Here is a photo of mine that I wouldn't mind selling (just took the photo 5 minutes ago). I actually only had these on my car for 3 weeks until I slapped some clears in there. I actually had an offer on these last weeks for $125 locally (wasn't sure if I wanted to let them go yet) but I would sell them for $140 shipped. Let me know if you're interested.
