Someone threw a lit firecracker in...Part 2!

Ok, so many of you read and responded to my first thread about the fireworks someone lit and threw into my car. Well after a month of waiting for the parts to arrive at the dealership they took my baby for 2 days and proceeded, I mean, attempted to fix it.

The dealership botched it horribly! Some parts look like they attacked it with a screwdriver (mostly the soft plastic parts), the cloth pieces on the seats weren't even installed correctly.

The front passenger seat wasn't fully installed, the rear seat cloth wasn't put on right, a good sized piece of material came out of the seatbelt hole.

The left rear plastic panel wasn't installed right, if you push on it the thing gives and you can see the metal body.

I tried to use my sagging drivers side sun visor only to have it fall off and see the metal parts on the roof are scraped up and bent, as well as the plastic cover on the hinge on both sides were scratched up and had stress marks from being bent up.

The carpet isn't tucked in by the fuel door switch, in fact some of the carpet goes over the switch area.

My plastic door sill covers that are supposed to be securely clipped on are loose and fall off. The also damaged the metal part of the door sill, I have 3 dents and a scratch. Thankfully the ins. adj. had pictures of the area right before they did the work so they can't say I did it.

They also damaged the dome light trim, part of my headliner on the front drivers side above the door pillar is in wrong, and the right rear area the plastic panels are not installed right.

When I tried to drive it home the airbag light stayed lit. They forgot to plug in one of the sensors so I had to do that myself, and they didn't secure the cables properly.

Upon closer inspection I found more areas that were missed and insurance will cover that (drivers side factory floor mat, dash, radio & HVAC control bevels, cargo cover, drivers side headrest all have damage still, as well as the insulation on the inside of the firewall.)

The dealership is responsible for the damages and improper install thanks to them. My insurance is going to take care of the rest of the fire damage that was missed.

I do have one thing over the dealership, the check from the Ins. is a two party and I'm not signing until they complete the work they were paid to do and replace parts they damaged. Anyways, here are some of the pics.

I would have told them to eat a dick, and I would have kept the rental car, and made them fix it right

Man I am sorry that happened. I suggest writing a letter, a very nice, polite letter, to the president of Toyota, explaining the situation, and showing him the photos. I have had success before writing polite letters to the presidents of companies. You would be surprised.

Wow! That sucks! I would be pissed as well. Sounds like a typical GM vehicle but this is Toyota!

They must have out sourced it and there must have been a break down in communication as well as your car. But still that's no excuse. Good luck and hope things work out!

Also like someone mention, the BBB. Let Toyota Corporate know as well.

I couldn't read a word you said due to a lack of paragraph usage, but the pictures look like a 3rd grader was let loose in your interior.

That's not a bad idea really. I think I might just do that.

Yeah, first the accident in December and the body shop not doing the best job, but I have to give them credit though. I don't think anyone could have done as bad as the dealer.

What sucks is I didn't notice most when I inspected the car there (was in a hurry). If I had noticed that much wrong I wouldn't have picked it up or payed them my $500 deductible. I didn't get rental car coverage on my insurance because at the time I had the LeBaron (and we know how that ended) and the GF has a Taurus wagon. I ended up having to drive the wagon which feels like driving a hummer (gas wise).

Sorry about that, I typed quite a bit there. I put in some breaks so it should be easier to read. Yeah, I'm pretty sure the guy they let do this only had a 3rd grade education, and only one tooth.

The insurance adjuster isn't surprised in the least that I want to trade my car in for a new one. He told me that they go up to 70% cost of damage before they total out a car. And with the '07s they aren't in the system yet so they have no baseline when to total out a car. Considering my car is only worth 10K before the Toyota techs got their hands on it, the damage has exceeded 70%.

On a better note my GF saw the truck unload a couple of '08 Yaris! I'll be heading down there tomorrow to check them out. I'm going to try and haggle my salesman quite a bit with all the crap I've gone through to get maximum for my trade-in and get a good discount on the '08.

Just another great experience at your local automotive dealer. Please list the name of this dealer so yarisworlders can avoid at all costs.

Good luck on using your horrible experience with the sales staff. They dont care what happens in the service bays.

Perhaps take the car to another dealer, one that actually gives a shit???

Bring it back to them and tell them you want it fixed correctly. I know it's easy for me to type that, but I think that's what really needs to be done. That's unacceptable. I'm very lucky to have a great dealer down here (Toyota of Gladstone), but I've had experiences with other dealers back in MN and WI that were terrible. It sounds like your dealer up there is crap, which is unfortunate. Is there only one Toyota dealer up there?

The dealership (Bud Clary Toyota of Yakima, they also have a location in Long Beach, WA) said they didn't want to fix anything until all the prior firework damage has been repaired. The head service manager didn't even have the balls to call me back yesterday like he was supposed to.

And last night I noticed MORE wrong with the car! The driver's side kick panel seemed loose and not in the right place. Turns out they didn't install the nut back on!

The closest other toyota dealership is 90 minutes away, but it's all freeway at least.. I go through Farmers Insurance and my adjuster said Bud Clary Toyota just lost all their business for good. Serves them right! I'm going to try and head there for lunch today to at least get my sun visor fixed. It's such a pain in the ass not having it there because on my way to work the sun is in my eyes, and it is also in my eyes when I go home from work.

That is absolutely ridiculous.

At least it sounds like the insurance adjuster is on your side which is a HUGE plus. If for some reason this doesn't get this settled for you, you can always contact your state insurance department and file a complaint.
They will also be able to tell you your rights and how to proceed with getting this resolved. After all, your insurance is there to FIX your damage, not just stir it around a bit...
