Yeesh, you could get 31MPG in an Echo while DRAG RACING it! If I ever got as bad as 31MPG in my corolla I'd cry.

Interesting that Consumers Report can rate the '05 Echo as #1 while not giving the '09 Yaris a "recommended" rating. Surely the '09 is superior to the '05 vintage.

I can't believe that vehicles rated for less than 25 MPG made it onto a fuel economy related list.

This was for used cars so 09 Yaris would not have made the cut anyway. However, prior years should have made it.

Consumers Report poo-poo's the Yaris, stating it is un-safe.
Not sure about US spec models but here in Canada (in 2008) the side airbags are only available as part of the top option package. My sedans Aero package basically substituted the skirt, spoilers and fog lights for the side airbags at the same package price.

CR poo-pooed the Echo for years, though. I was surprised not to see the Honda Fit on there, too. Anyway, I posted this on my blog, too.

Sucks the Y didn't make the list. One the bright side at least Toyota takes up almost half the list, including the top spot
