On a good tank I can get 350km I take a lot of very short trips so that doesn't help. First bar usually drops at 50-55km, second one at 100-120.

I dunno, around 500 i think prolly, less than 600km.

but when i drive on the 400-series highways its always at around 130 or 140km/h.

Normal highways is 100km/h. And my starts are "slow and easy"... and im hard on the breaks.

I have only 6100km on my Yaris and I am only getting 60to 65 km for every 1/8 of a tank city driving.
My dealer says I should/will get better gas mileage near 15,000kms.

640 kl is about the norm for mine during a 120 kph highway trip.
Around 580-600 kl per tank for my normal activity which is a mix of city and 120 kph highway. I do ~100 kl per weekday mixed commute.
I don't have the patience to drive 100 kl all day to find optimum mileage figures. I might fall asleep, or get rear-ended.

My best tank so far pure distance so far was 921km or 572miles.

I've been keeping a log of my gas bars lately and here it is:

This is all in kms and a bit messy, as I made it for my own private interest. I don't always make it to the 7th bar for a fill up, that's why there's a 0 in some of those fields.

550 to 600 km on about 40 L, mostly city driving, shorter trips.

the best i've done strictly hwy driving would be about 675 i think.

For me it's normal driving, for most people they would say hypermiling, because I drive 80-90km/h on the highway and think a lot while driving to maximize safety.

For hypermilers I'd be classified as a wannabe.

I don't do anything special and IMHO people who think numbers similar to mine aren't easily attainable in similar driving conditions are simply not disciplined in their driving style.

The major reason I get good miles is because I drive mostly on the 401 and my commute is 104 km's round trip.

hi guys
just drove from Christchurch to Auckland (1100Km's ) on a tank and a half
of gas,
Had two adults and two kidds in the car + all our lugage ,not much room to move,LOL.
First tank gave us 700KM'S,
not bad for a 1300 car,doing the return trip next weekend,fun .

Voodoo22 you are doing it right, you should give a write up on your driving techniques so we may all benefit from your success..
We can only dream of 800-900km tanks, taking it easy i can probably get around 700kms.

I'm all for fuel economy. I would question the safety of driving 20-30kph below the posted speed limit let alone the average flow of traffic. If the posted speed limit is 110kph I'm surprised you haven't got a ticket for driving too slow actually. It is great economy though, I top out around 625/ or so. I'm 95% city driving; short trips, usually just to work and home (10km each way) or out to my parents (25km each way).
