Yaris S-Sedan, Auto.. so far only up to 90, but I wasn't trying to max it out or anything... so it will probably go higher.

I guess any question asked has some importance to some but I don't think anybody buying a Yaris is real concerned about top speed. This is not a high performance car BTW..... LOL

Unless you live where Autobahns or limitless roads exist, then top speed really doesn't matter... does it?

It caught me by surprise, but I looked over an saw 80ish on the speedo. Keep in mind, I backed right off once I noticed it, because it was only 20mins after taking delivery! Thats one way to break 'em in, lol.
It just rides so nice for a little car, it never feels like your driving fast. Yea, sorry this actually didnt answer your question at all!! |

Car and Driver (or maybe it was Road and Track) did a review of the sedan and stated that the top speed was limited to 113mph.

Just academic discussion, I believe you can get a hint from the stock tires that come with the car. In other words, the car's top speed cannot usually exceed the tires' maximum allowable speed, but should be quite close to it.
Sorry for not having a solid answer. Edit(additional information entered on June 26 06)): S-rated tires can stand a speed of up to 180 km/hr, T-rated ones up to 190 km/hr, H-rated ones up to 210 km/hr, and V-rated ones up to 240 km/hr. A T-rated speed limit of 190 km/hr is about 118 miles/hr. My stock tires are T-rated. I think the maximum speed of my stock HB should be more than the S-rated limit of 180 km (112 miles)/hr but less than the T-rated limit of 190 km (118 miles)/hr. Anyway, it's fast enough for me. my yaris seems to hit a sweet spot at 80 miles an hour when I'm cruising on highways. I really don't want to go any faster.

i've had mine up to 110 mph or so, never hit the limit yet. this car does like to hover around the 80 mph spot though. so easy to stay there on the highway.

a bit repetitive..but got mine up to 110 then noticed i was in traffic..:) car still handled decent at that speed, so really should be no problem at normal highway speeds, was just trying to see what the limit would be, but could not get to it..

I took a 3hr road trip and had to be at a certain place at a certain time....
My Yaris is a hatch 5spd and I drove the majority of the way at 150km/h and during a couple stretches hit 170-180km/h. There was a bit of wind and it didnt feel to sound at that speed so I slowed back down. I had to make the trip to Vancouver airport to pickup my lip kit before customs closed. Took the 'Coke'. I dont typically drive anywhere near this speed mind you. |

Hi folks, I have just found enough evidence from my stock tires to show that the max. speed of my HB shoud be somewhere between 180 km (112 miles) to 190 km (118 miles) per hour. If interested, please roll back to see my last post which has been edited to show additional information.

I took mine to around 105 on I80 going east from MN to Maine....hit it once and backed down just to see on clear road....felt nice and smooth, but as others have said...the car is possessed and wills itself to be in the 80 mph area.

last time i went past 100 i was on a turn and it kind of helped me go faster out of it and i have got past 120 so i know theres no engine cut out
also if you do take speed limiter out i think you break waranty something you should know for the first time you go past 100 be careful with tires there kind of touchey
