My New Project

Well I bought a 91' Dodge Stealth RT. Don't worry the Yari isn't going anywhere. The stealth is really nice but, as mentioned it needs some work. This engine is very different from what I'm use to but, it gives me a chance to learn. Unfortunately it will take time and money away from the yaris but, I think the reward in restoring a 90's import icon is worth it. What are your guys thoughts?

that's a cool car, but is it called an "import"?

It's a twin of the GTO/3000GT. Yeah, those are cool cars. Can be amazingly fast too. Definitely post pics.

Not an import? Huh, mfg by Mitsubishi and J is the first letter in the Vin, so I would think so. The color is Pearl White. I'll get some pics soon enough, like I said it needs some work but, I got it at a steal.

It's a Mitsubishi 3000GT with dodge badges and body accents... (I like the Mitsu better) It's quite heavy for it's size, is my understanding...

This is true but once you open the exhaust up and raise the boost a little, all that torque from that six more than makes up for it. I think the dodge looks a little cleaner the be honest.

It's the RT meaning its 3.0 DOHC N/A FWD, The RT TT is the Twin Turbo AWD model. But, the good thing about that it has less mechanical problems, better MPG, and it weighs 700lbs less at 3076. And for about 2K I can do an engine swap with the 3.5L 6G74 but, thats in the distant future. Right now I'm doing the 120K service and working on weight reduction. My plan is to get it down to 2800lbs.

FWD + too much Torque = garbage you mean...... just to put it in an honest way.

As for the car, I think we all need to see pictures!!!!!!!!

AWD is awesome, but adds a lot of weight... FWD is generally lighter, but then you have the front wheels doing double duty of steering and acceleration, plus hard acceleration sends weight to the back of the car, removing traction from the drive/steering wheels...

From what I heard 3100lbs isn't bad compared to other cars in it's class for that decade but, the reason for that weight is the construction of support/safety beams, welds that other cars don't have. And I could easily take out 100lbs by replacing the seats, hood, battery, and wheels.
With the 6g74 transplant, the FWD will take a stock AWD from a roll. Don't get me wrong I would love to have AWD just not all that weight that comes with it. What we need is an AWD Yaris.

And about the pics I'll get them out soon right now I'm replacing the plugs wires with some Accels.

no such thing as an SL twin...only vr4's are turbod and all vr4's are awd and all wheel steering

hate to bring up old threads but if you need some aftermarket parts i have a few laying around...coming from one 3000/stealth owner to another
