front dor belt

Im replacing my front and rear door belt both passenger side, as it was cut in half on a failed theft attempt. Its called weatherstrip in some countries, and NOT the door belt moulding down on the side of the door (accessory)

Ive seen the servicemanual and i have some questions:
1) theyre both done the same way, but the front requires interior panel removal before the door moulding, is that accurate/necessary?
2) i dnt have the right tools im sure, but can anyone suggest the best tool to use to pry off this door belt ? And how would i know if i masked the door enought not to damage the paint?

TIA!

The one that mounts to the door (as opposed to the one that mounts around the door frame of the car itself) is easy to remove and install, other than the little black clips. Most auto parts stores over here sell a little tool for popping those clips that has a flat blade with a U shaped groove. It allows you to pull that type of clip without scratching the paint or breaking the clip.

I just use needle nose pliers (the kind with the long skinny tip).
