New wheels... and Toyota warranty!
I just want to tell you a story...
My mother bought a brand new 2006 Matrix XR two weeks ago from our single local Toyota dealer in the arear. She HATE buying and choosing car, so I was there to help her doing a good choice. When the saleman explain the warranty coverage of the car, they told her than if she put bigger wheels like 17" or 18" wheels, they will immediately void the warranty on all direction/suspension components. They also tell her than if she do any modification (exhaust, intake, ect) except Toyota/TRD parts, they will immediately void the entire warranty on the car. Obviously, my mother is 55 years old and she never plan to do any modifications or put bigger wheels on her Matrix. But I just want to bring you this interesting story. :)

I would think that like free rotations and stuff like that would not be covered with bigger wheels. have her read her warranty and if it doesnt state that in there then they cant go back on it. I might need some help with this but there is a statute or law or something here in the U.S. that says a warranty is only void if there is damage or odd wear on parts that is a direct result of a modification. Like if you supercharge something and blow the engine. That can be a direct result.

My mother absolutely don't care about that because she will never do any mods on her Matrix.
I just want to bring that story because it may interest some peoples. :)

well im not sure how it is in america jr. but here in the states, any aftermarket parts must be found to be the cause of the problem, so by saying wheels void the suspension warrenty is bullshit here.
the only thing i can see wheels voiding the warrenty on is if they are big and heavy wheels and prematurly wear out brakes and wheel bearings. |

Warranty also doesnt cover things that are routine maintenance. Dunno if suspension parts are covered by a warranty anyway or if they are considered routine maintenance. How are you enjoyeing the ride El?

yup. If you can't understand WHY they wouldn't want you putting 80 lb wheels on your car, then you shouldn't be driving..
