A very common part to break for Yaris Gen 3
This AC Compressor Clutch Plate looks crappy by design, will eventually fail in no time. Some may fail in less than 3 years, other may last more than 5 years and all of them will suffer the same fate.
I can definitely say this is very common issue to all gen 3 and is just a waiting time bomb. Mine detached at 177k km. I replaced the clutch plate from a denso donor and did a little sanding on the mating surfaces and installed the shims needed with some tight clearance. Now it is back into action. Would want to buy a new magnetic clutch assembly next time that includes the pulley and coil |

thats terifying with the speed they are spinning as well as being under tension....the fact they dont launch and do other damage is actualy kinda supriseing
but it also begs the question...how many of these fail due to an over tight belt |

That's a different design than what we have here. External vs internal clutch. Our big round retaining nut cannot break, just spin off the threaded shaft. At least when their's break, there is still a nut holding the pulley on.
